Dean Baker's Economics Reporting Review: December 27 - January 3
This review provides a healthy antidote to the economic "reporting" of the corporate media which time and again is shown to be little more than plutocratic proaganda. The housing boom is covered this week:

"There is substantial evidence that the housing market is currently in an unsustainable bubble. If the housing market is experiencing a bubble, then it is not good news that housing prices continue to outpace inflation, just as the extraordinary run-up in the Nasdaq before its collapse should not have been viewed as good news."

In addition to these comments it is worth emphasizing that rising land prices rising are always against the public interest, not only in a boom, ie 'the price of land is your enemy'. With the introduction of increasing rates of land value taxation, good news would be reports on a generalised decline in land prices as the economic rent is captured by the public treasury.
